Narratives
Every one of the 650 clay figures represents an individual at the sharp end of austerity. Their 650 narratives are posted on this page.
These stories are drawn from newspaper reports, leading-edge research and activism in the field of social justice. Covering a range of topics, including benefits reform, local authority spending, homelessness, malnutrition, NHS rationing, etc., they represent a spectrum of experience. During the making and tour, volunteer stewards from campaigning and arts curatorial backgrounds are drawing on these stories in order to engage with members of the public in discussing the issues raised by the work.
