College lecturer Deanne underwent chemotherapy treatment when she was diagnosed with cancer. It has left her with severe fatigue and she is now unable to work. When she went into mortgage arrears, she had to sell her home of 19 years and move, with her three children, into council accommodation. She says, “A house is more than a material possession. It is a home. It was a horrible experience. Things just got worse and worse. It is hard to deal with the stress of cancer, let alone worrying about losing my home.
